This title is a series of 13 Lectures delivered by William Jay at Argyle Chapel.
The design of this Series of Lectures was – to diversify a little the ordinary course of ministerial instruction – to excite and secure attention by a degree of allowable novelty and curiosity – and to bring together various things pertaining to the same subject; so that they might aid each other in illustration and improvement, by their arrangement and union.

The great strength and value of all sermons by William Jay is their faithfulness to the passage he is examining. He always stuck closely to the text and sought to open and apply God's Word to God's People in every possible situation they might face in a fallen world. There is no cause to wonder why Spurgeon would say, "O FOR MORE JAYS!" Every Pastor should read Jay to learn how to preach the Word. Every hard of a household should read Jay to learn how to lead the family in a God-honoring way. Every Christian should read Jay to face the promises and demands of the Gospel for ones own soul.
