Author Bio

C. H. Spurgeon, the great Victorian preacher, was one of the most influential people of the second half of the 19th Century. At the heart of his desire to preach was a fierce love of people, a desire that meant he did not neglect his pastoral ministry.



(2) CHILDREN'S STORIES: Classic Stories by J.C. Ryle

This is a collection of eight sermons/stories for young children (ages 6-11) by the great Anglican Bishop of Liverpool, J.C. Ryle. Not only is it very readable and understandable for the youngest reader, but as you would expect from Ryle, it is sound theology. Some of the other sermons are: "Seeking the Lord Early," "Little and Wise," "The Two Bears," and "No More Crying."

Looked up to and loved by children in his congregation, J.C. Ryle took their spiritual lives very seriously. J. C. Ryle (1816 - 1900) was the first Bishop of Liverpool. He was one of the most authoritative churchmen of his time and his writings have been in constant demand throughout the last hundred years. His popularity was due to his clear and simple style, his longevity due to his being a profound thinker and compassionate pastor.
